Wisconsin men's hockey touts success of three incoming freshmen

Still a few days out from the Frozen Four, it's clear the future is extremely bright for Wisconsin men's hockey.

The Badgers are set to battle North Dakota in their first trip to the Frozen Four since 2010. After this season, though, there's a trio of players who are ready to make an immediate impact.

Wisconsin's social media team recently touted the success of incoming freshmen Zach Wooten, Brent Solomon, and Chase Jette.

1. Zach Wooten

Wooten has made quite a name for himself with the Green Bay Gamblers this season. The Minnesota native is a lefty who's currently third in the USHL with his 34 goals.

This isn't Wooten's first stint with the Gamblers, but the 2026-27 commit is having a season like never before. His 60 points are a career high, according to Elite Prospects.

2. Brent Solomon

Solomon is another 2026-27 commit who's coming to the Badgers with a chance to make an immediate impact. The 19-year-old is among the Top 30 in the USHL in scoring. He currently plays for the Sioux Falls Stampede, a team that has already punched its ticket to the playoffs.

If that's not enough, Solomon is also fourth in the league in shots. The fellow Minnesota native is sitting at 53 points this season, which is three shy of the career best he set a year ago at Champlin Park.

3. Chase Jette

At 18-years old, Jette is the youngest of this trio. The Illinois native is a teammate of Wooten's on the Gamblers and he's among the USHL's best with his 1.29 points per game rate.

According to Elite Prospects, Jette nearly had a 100-point season in 14U, and he followed that up with an 85-point 15U season and an 80-point season in 16U.
