Grady Jarrett injury update: Will Bears DT play vs. Saints?

There are only a matter of hours until the Chicago Bears kick off their Week 7 matchup with the New Orleans Saints at Soldier Field. This will be the Bears' first game back at home since Week 3, when they took down the Dallas Cowboys 31-14. Chicago is attempting to win their fourth game in a row, something they haven't done since the 2018 season, and it looks like they will be getting some reinforcements back to help extend their winning streak.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Bears running back D'Andre Swift and defensive tackle Grady Jarrett are expected to play against the Saints. Both players are officially questionable going into the game after getting in a limited practice on Friday.

Swift suffered a groin injury during their 25-24 win over the Washington Commanders but told Bears reporters he was planning on playing after Friday's practice. Jarrett, on the other hand, is a bit of a surprise.

The veteran defensive tackle has been battling a knee injury since the start of the season, which has caused him to miss the last two games. He did not practice on Wednesday and Thursday before he got a limited session in on Friday. Head coach Ben Johnson knows his team captain doesn't need much of a ramp-up before getting back into games.

"There’s certain guys that need to practice during the week to prove they can go on game day," Johnson said last Saturday via CHGO Bears. "He’s had some skins on the wall and proven that he’s a guy who can kind of skirt by without practicing as much during the week and still be able to perform at a high level on game day."

Should Jarrett be able to go, he will face an opponent he knows very well from his days with the Atlanta Falcons. Jarrett has 33 solo tackles and six career sacks against the Saints, the most against any team. His presence will boost the Bears' defensive line as they look to stifle the Saints' offense.
